Have your say on Volunteering in Redcar and Cleveland

The Council is launching a volunteering survey today, Wednesday, May 1, aimed at finding out about residents’ experiences of volunteering and how they can be supported to volunteer in the future.

People who don’t currently volunteer are also being encouraged to complete the survey which will be available in hard copy at your local library, online or by attending a drop-in session.

The results of the survey will shape and develop a volunteering strategy and help the authority better understand why people volunteer, what they do, challenges and barriers to volunteering, areas they need support, how often they volunteer and what influences their volunteering.

The Council also want to hear from groups and organisations who work with volunteers to find out how they are being supported and how this could be improved in the future.

Cllr Christopher Massey, Cabinet Member for Resources, said:

“Volunteering has never been more important to our local communities which is why it is so important we find out how we can support and grow volunteering in Redcar and Cleveland.

“Some volunteers want to help others, some a particular cause or community project, while others seek to develop skills, meet people or try a new activity.

“Whatever the motivation we want to hear residents’ views by completing the survey or coming along to one of the drop-in sessions and help us to match more volunteers with the groups that need their help.”

You can complete an online survey by visiting www.redcar-cleveland.gov.uk/volunteering  or alternatively paper copies of the survey will be available at libraries across the borough.
